What bike?

Hi all,

I am looking to compete in a triathlon later in the year, it will be my first one - my goal is to complete it, not win it..

I need a bike, I cant afford to spend much now..

So;

Am I ok buying a cheap bike, say a Carrera Zelos Limited Edition - Halfords are selling these for £270 reduced from £600, Or is this a false economy and should I aim for a higher spec bike straight away?

My budget could stretch to around £500 at a push.

There's a very nice Giant Defy 2 in north Essex on Gumtree at the moment, well within budget.

Please don't buy a zelos. Its a lower spec tdf, next group set down, terrible wheels, its borderline bso territory....

A good choice.

I'd immediately swap the tyres out for 25c though. The ride comfort difference is huge and you don't lose anything in speed.

I'm on my backup winter bike at the moment and it feels like its on razorblades on 23c tyres...

I abandoned getting the Felt , upped my budget and now own a 2014 Specialized Allez , and I'm loving it
