I'm signed up for the wiggle new forest/isle of Wight sportive in June, do you think it'll be cancelled?? I'll be gutted if it is as is going to be my first ever one! What's other people's experiences of wiggle events??

I did the New Forest one this year...very well run, and absolutely NOT a race... not for me anyhow.
The weather was diabolical, but the limited demonstrations were an annoyance, if the reports of them throwing tacks in the road were true, dangerous.

I get that large groups of cyclists can get in the way, but you simply can't compare a one or even two day event of a group of people excercising in a very 'green' way with the daily speeding by motorists and general risk of New Forest wildlife wandinering around on the road.

What next? Cancel the London Marathon, because it restricts retial trade once a year?

ridiculous nimby-ism.

As I live near the new forest I got the impression it is just nimbyism... most residents there are up their one ar##s! Just wondered what actual cyclists views were! Cheers for the responses so far!!

Usual bullst spouted by New Forest locals who think it's their own private estate and not a National Park. It won't be cancelled, just sign up and enjoy it.
