Royal Mail handling of shocks

Thought this might be of interest. Royal Mail can apparently confiscate and legally dispose of (or sell via auction!) air canisters regardless of whether they are compressed or not?!?? Seems someone has fallen foul of this and had their rear shock disposed of after sending it for service.

As many have pointed out, lots of bike companies use Royal Mail and you can buy co2 cansiters online and have them delivered to home?!

I always sell off any kit I replace or don't think i'll use anymore. Recently Royal Mail have starting asking directly "what is it you are posting?" I think its quite an invasion of privacy, its because they not have a list of prescribed items that include oil, so again shocks can fall foul. I bag and box everything up well so no risk of leaks or damage, so now when they ask I just say "dildo" It shuts them up.

Just to make sure I've got this right, they are fusing to deliver as it may be hazardous and then selling them at auction....
Is this being done as a physical auction or are they being delivered afterwards?

They are sold off via auction, re-sold via ebay and then posted by royal mail....
