Dear All,
I might be able to get http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cannondale/qui...

second-hand for about £300, owner says good condition.

What do you think, not been biking for ages. The idea is to use it along off road paths by the river, near the sea, canals and dedicated bike paths and parks such as;

First knee jerk is I'm sure you can do better for the money than that cannondale. Although it should be suitable for the kind of riding youre talking about (road, canal path etc) its fairly low spec throughout - which isn't a bad thing if you don't want to spend through the nose on it ofc.
It looks a little pricey, tbh Google thinks they were 600 rrp (and nobody pays rrp) new...

Nothing "wrong" with it, I just think you could do better....

Your choices are also very very different bikes.

Ones a road focussed flat bar hybrid, should be happy with canal paths etc.
The other isn't suited for the road (you could take the rockrider on road but really its for messing about in the woods, proper bike trails etc)

The Rockrider is a a good bike for the money, but as already stated not a mile muncher on road, unless you change the tyres.

Agreed. For £300 there's nothing wrong with the Dale. It'd be fine. And quick. The decathlon one would cope with far more than a canal path but won't be as good on road.

Thank you all for your top suggestions! Now got me thinking, can the PH experts give me a few pointers of new bikes that might fit the bill?
