Should I sell to buy new or just use what I have?

Hi all,
Apols for this but been out of the saddle for a few years and wanted some independent advice please (read: not invested in selling me a new bike...!)
I have a 1999 Klein Attitude Comp (upgraded to XT waaaaay back then!) which I love but which needs some sorting out (probably about £250 worth).
Of course I'm being seduced by current new bikes on the market but I do really like the frame and paint on the Klein - so wondered if it's a false economy (ie, the march of time wouldn't have really made a better spec bike for what is in reality the make good budget plus Klein second hand value).
I have no idea if there's even an appetite for a used Klein - as I'd need the money to fund the new bike....not sure how I'm gonna fare once im back in the saddle and don't want to invest a lot at the moment until I know. So that's another consideration I guess.
Any advice much appreciated, it's a pretty thing but is it the right thing for now

You will regret it for the rest of your life. There's a market for them, but top money is for mint examples with period kit that matches the OE spec. Check retrobike.co.uk.

But if you do fancy selling I have £85 burning a hole in my back pocket - distance is no issue !!!
I'm in a similar position with my 1994 Orange P7.
I've no real use for it. It's going to cost a couple of hundred quid to sort, but I've had it for nearly 20 years and think I'd really regret selling it.
By the same token, I also have a 2000 Orange P7 which was a nicer bike, but I'm in no way as attached to.

I'm kind if thinking of using my Scott genius mc50 as a donor to build a ht titanium rock lobster frame. I'll have to have a disc mount welded to it though.
After starting to ride a road bike the rear suspension just saps too much. Plus a ht will be better for commuting.
If you like the frame and forks I say stuck with it. New bikes are great. Bit if you love the old one still I say spruce it up. You'll have to spend a lot more that £250 to get a suitable replacement.

Got a Mantra Comp that I bought back in '98 which I sort of lost interest in around seven years back. Since then its sat in the shed and not really done a great deal.
Three months back I changed out the rear shock, fitted new tubes and tyres, bought a new pair of shoes and went riding again.
Ride what ya got fella!

Sell your current Klein, and buy an older proper one, before they sold out to Trek. Adroit or Attitude are nice especially in something like the old Team USA colours.

Thanks gents - will post up some pics in a bit....having looked at it again today, i dont think theres one component thats been changed since new....so getting her back to working order may take a while! Anyone know the best place near Reading, Berks to have a service completed at?
Guess the budget just increased to include a new bike and a Klein resurrection! On the plus side, I can also buy a full sus bike now
