Superstar components wheel rebuild

I've managed to bend my 2 month old superstar components front wheel in to something roughly resembling a Taco. The only bit that's going to be salvageable will be the hub and a few spokes. Superstar components offer a "offer crash replacement rebuild prices for our customers to get you back on your bike for a sensible cost".
I have to send the wheel back to them which will obviously incur a postage charge to start with. Has anyone got any experience of their level of service/cost involved with regards to rebuilding wheels?
Local shops are quoting £30 for wheel build, £32 for spokes and a further £36 for a new mavic rim. Damn expensive bike ride to be honest.

Superstar wheels are great value, but there are 2 things you need to accept, the bearings are crap and the builds are so bad they need redoing before they go anywhere near your bike (probably played a large part in whatever happened to your old wheel).
Take it to a local shop to get rebuilt, probably best getting them to check the rear while they're about it too.

I'm a bit surprised at some of the reports about SuperStar, I've bought piles of stuff from them, including a wheelset and had nothing but great service.
Most of their Hubs are just re-branded Novatec hubs which are really good hubs and should have equal quality bearings - mine have certainly been faultless and lasted as long as any Hope stuff I've used.
I know they come in for some stick sometimes - dare I say a lot of the distractors work in or own Bike Shops but in my own experience they only thing I've ever had go wrong was a brake pad delamination about 4-5 years ago.

I wouldnt want to put anyone off buying them, the prices are amazing and the components are pretty good.
You can get a set of stans wheels from them say, either retension them yourself or pay maybe a 10er for a bike shop to do it and still be thoroughly quids in. The axle system on the hubs is fantasic, id recommend anyone go for the 10mm rear qr if you're getting a new wheel set, the difference in stiffness in a normal qr frame is noticable.
Standard bearings do suck, when they go after a 6-9mths replace them with some stainless bearings (mtbbearings.co.uk) and you'll be set for life (or a good while a least).
Other than having to give the spokes some tlc and bearings needing doing, the only other problem i've had was a cracked freehub, that was returned and replaced within about 3 days, really good service.

Not true - Superstar use SKF or similar bearings in their wheels. I've had a few wheels from them (five to date) - from budget builds to top end - and the issue they seem to suffer from is poor weather sealing which lets water get into them. Strength wise they've been superb, even on lightweight rims, when riding black routes - and I'm a heavy rider. Take it to a local shop to get rebuilt, probably best getting them to check the rear while they're about it too.
For they money they're excellent value but if you want them for winter riding then you are better buyingh elsewhere IME. You really can't beat Mavic's factory built stuff. I've got two sets of their bog basic MTB wheels and the first were only retired due to wearing the rim out. The second is now on its second winter and still going strong. Conversely one of my rear SS wheels only lasted a few months of winter riding before the freehub started grumbling - still works though, just doesn't sound well.
