Cyclists coming to the front

I had this happen to me twice yesterday at traffic lights.
A cyclist would go out of his way to come to the front, but then to get off the mark would take him 6-7 seconds...
Why do they actually have a box at the front for them? Motorcycles are fine as they have always gotten off the mark relatively quickly but cyclists always take an age. Especially when you're involve a junction at the lights with them turning left and right. Then it begins to create alot more confusion and delays.
Isn't it better for them to stay where they were and then to get off the mark and upto speed on the left side rather than coming up to the front and in the middle?

What bugs me more is when you spend time waiting to overtake a cyclist safely then at the next set of lights they insist on almost scraping down the side of all the cars to get to the front. Then you have to wait and overtake them safely again because god forbid you get a little too close for their comfort.
Surely logic would dictate that rather than hold everyone up again they should maybe wait behind the cars that have just overtaken them, you know, like car drivers would? (and yes I do cycle on roads)

I have stopped a few on busy London pavements. One guy on a Boris bike got really shirty with me when I stopped him. He was cycling down Kingsway against a flow of pedestrians mostly coming from Waterloo direction on the day of a tube strike! I pointed out his stupidity but he seemed not to understand it.

One day this week I was in a line of cars that had to follow a cyclist up quite a steep hill, at 5 - 7 mph, the road isn't wide enough to overtake them with traffic coming the other way, even if they were in the gutter, which this one delights in not being.
I was third behind her, and I'd eventually got past, but had to stop at some lights, there really isn't room for her to come down the inside, there just isn't, so she goes on the pavement, gets to the front of the traffic, then off the pavement into the "cycle box", and does it all over again, only this time she's on the flat.
She then shouts and waves her fist at anyone that overtakes her.
She does this all the time, it's a pity the old bag doesn't have a heart attack whilst she's screaming at everyone.
I see her behave like this everytime I come across her, which is normally a couple of times a week, I'm amazed nobody has done something to her to be honest, she's been at this for several years now.

Logic would dictate that it would be a good idea to build segregated cycle routes. Don't think of the cycle areas as a way for cyclists to re-pass everyone, it's a way of keeping them safe.
Like they have in the Netherlands and Belgium? Yes, brilliant idea and would be great here. Who's gonna pay for it though? No-one is interested.
