AAAAAARRGH Stripped thread on carbon crank....

Possibly the worst day I've had in quite some time.
I now have three bikes in varying degrees of disrepair....
6 miles into a solo ride tonight my right pedal felt "wrong". I stopped and inspected and it was sticking out at a slight angle. Couldn't move it without a spanner so walked the bike home.
On further inspection it's worked loose slightly, then twisted inside the crank arm, stripping the metal insert.
"Bangs head against wall" this probably serves me right for using some old halfords pedals from my TDF which on closer inspection both screw in the same way (instead of the opposite threads every other pedal seems to have) which meant while pedalling it was slowly working itself loose.
So from today I need a new SRAM Force carbon crankset (unless I can find someone who can repair the insert) and two new tubes for the MTB which picked up a twin puncture at some point during my experiment with clipless pedals - which seemed to mainly involve falling over onto concrete.
Bruised, stressed and now incredible totally pissed off. With some luck I can return my old TDF to the road for the club ride tomorrow morning...

This makes no sense, you can't thread a right hand bolt into a left hand thread... Unless this is how you borked it.
Well, SRAM tell me its not repairable.
Halfords, with someone kindly offering to use a staff discount comes out north of £200, merlin seems to be a winner for a new one at £160
There's a few on eBay but nothing that will end soon enough to be with me and fitted before a fortnight.
Luckily I found a private ad, which after a bit of discussion is on its way to me for £60.... Replacing carbon bits with anything else seems morally wrong somehow (if it isn't in the rules it feels like it should be) so I'm feeling lucky.
There's a local precision engineering company I plan on having a chat with when I can get hold of them to see if rethreading is doable anyway.

I did exactly the same once. Didn;t tighten the pedal up totally and figured it would tighten when riding (rather than me over doing it). The pedal fell off the crank!
Mine was a Ultegra unit and I shopped around and managed to get the part for £80 (as opposed to £200 from Wiggle).

Very much appreciate the offer, but one should be in the post today or tomorrow, hopefully in time to be fitted for the weekend :PA Sunday club ride on the Carrera TDF showed just how damn nice my new bike is and how much I desperately want it back on the road before it starts raining sideways.... It's like going back to a Volvo 340 after driving a Lotus...

Bargain replacement force crsnkset arrives via gumtree ad - its gxp bb not bb30.... Ah well should at least be able to resell it and get my money back...
Finally sourced a bb30 force crankset.
I cant get the old one off.....
Wont come free from the bb. Lbs can't get it free from the bb even with liberal application of a big hammer - that they are afraid to use too much for fear of damaging the frame.
At this rate my 2010 pro carbon is well on its way to costing me most of a 2014 model....
