Does anybody on here compete in MTB Enduro's?
I was up at Gisburn today, and it turns out that there is an Enduro being held there tomorrow so it was full of people getting some practice in / having a look at the stages. I got chatting to a couple of blokes who were competing, and from what they were saying it sounds like a pretty good laugh (plenty of people camping over having a barbie / few beers in the evening etc), and got me thinking that I may try and improve my fitness a bit over winter and have a go at it next year.
I'm just after getting some idea of what sort of level these events are (obviously 'club' level events, not national series etc)...? I'm by no means mega fit / quick, but am happy riding blacks at most trail centres, and usually tend to be in the top 25% or so on Strava sections - am I likely to make it round, or will I want to go home after the first stage....!
Cheers,
Si

There are All sorts of levels even at national races. Good fitness helps a lot so work on it if you can.
Just enter and see how it goes.
Does it matter where you finish? THe only problem could be the transition stage but those are just steady pace affairs
I really enjoy them and remind me of racing before it all got serious.

I'm just about to set off over as I'm entered. To give you an idea of the standard, I had 8 cans, a curry and some shots last night as preparation :-)
Like most things you have some that are super keen but you get from it what you put in, just enter for a laugh and it will be fine.
They said they will be having a local series next year.

I've had a look on the British Cycling website which has quite a few events listed, are there any other sites / clubs which I should be looking at? I'm based in the North West near Manchester if that helps...

I have a friend who does some of the UK Gravity Enduro rounds and really enjoys it. The only issue will be fast riders who have had a problem in the qualifying rounds and thus start behind you, they will be on you like a doberman on a kitten and you will be off line a lot to let them through... the transition stages arent tough at all, the time cut-offs are such that guys on big all mountain beasties in full body armour can still make the cut so you shouldnt have any troubles...
