They've got my winter jacket again. Second best thing I bought last year. The 'merino' base layers are made of nettles though.

I purchased the tights last year. For the thirteen pounds or so, I find them very comfortable, hard wearing and with small reflective sections. I also purchased the wheel spoke reflectors, these are great for city commuting. I find these Aldi products very good value for money, they may not be quite as good as the best, but for the money their great :-)

Last time I bought anything from them, I grabbed the Arm Warmers and the Knee Warmers. The Arm Warmers are great, fit is tidy and they stayed put, keeping the chill off otherwise exposed skin. Function as intended. The knee warmers on the other hand were utterly terrible. Whether I bought the wrong size, or they just don't work when you have fat thighs, I don't know, but when I put them on they would not stay put near the ends of my shorts, continually ending up wrinkled down and gathered in a bunch behind my knees. I ended up using them like 'sock extensions' to make my neoprene overshoes more comfortable over my short socks.

I already have a 'normal' walking type waterproof - I assume that would suffice instead of me buying another? Is the Aldi winter jacket insulated?

Is the Aldi windproof jacket worth having?

It'll do to begin with. However you'll find that it rides up and the arms don't fit properly when cycling.

Oh really? What do you mean - the wool is itchy or rough?
I have a half-merino Helly Hansen base layer which i love, but its a little too good for the daily commute to work so was thinking of getting the cheapo Aldi ones if they have even more merino content...

As for teh other bits, i bought the trousers last year, and they are really good - though the mediums (my usual size) are a little snug so i think i should have got large

Good grief, I wasn't suggesting that anyone actually reads the copy they buy, tear the voucher out of the paper and leave the rest of it in the shop would be my advice.

Been wearing their 2.99 fingerless mitts every day, since June, they even had them down to £1.50 to clear a week later (shame I got large instead of small!!)

Gonna pop down the Swindon branch in morning to see what the Merino is like

Popped down the one by the magic roundabout @ 8am this morning, they had a good range of everything advertised and for once everything in every size! Although by 8.30 when I left loads of stuff such as the Merino base layers and jackets had gone, not sure if they will restock

I purchased:

Winter jacket, seems ok, nice and tight, well thought out pockets, not too thick like my other winter jacket (which was 5 x price!!) : £15

Arm Warmers, can't go wrong for £7

Leg Warmers, never had any, thought I'd give em a go: £7 (once out of the packet the arm and leg warmers are EXACTLY the same!!)

Neoprothene(?spelling) Over shoes, they seemed ok, yet to test £7 . Will make good "spares"

Long sleeved cycle top for £9. This was a bargain, just done 10 miles in it now, fits like a glove and breethable, yet kept me warm, bargain for £9, would make a great base layer. Great comuteing top, would love to get a few more

Merino Top Base Layer: These were flying out the door and all gone when I left, seem ok, as another poster says they feel like nettles!! Hopefully they will get more comfy, seemed OK for £15

Metal Bottle and bottle cage. Got a silver metal bottle with cage, to go with my retro tourer, looks substantial but light considering the materials, Good Value & looks great on my new Raleigh Clubman for £2.99

I usually say that buy cheap buy twice!! But am quite impressed with value for money, time will tell on quality, having said that I wore the on the cycle in today the shorts and gloves I purchased on the last summer cycle special day and they have been brilliant for the money!

The sizes are about average, I'm 5"7, 75KGs and 12% fat and got into smalls of everything, but they are tight!
