Just been watching the Montreal Classic - is there nothing this guy can't do? Total masterclass in how to ride away from a group of world class bike riders. With the world championships just a few weeks away he's got to be red hot favourite. I know he will be heavily marked but he's such a master at reading a race that he will surely be in the mix come the end. In a few years time I'd love to see him have a decent crack at a grand tour. All the armoury is there.

Well he couldn't win a race that mattered and got smashed by Cancellara in the classics. He's decent but he got schooled at the classics.

I doubt he will lose the weight to go for gc tbh

Why not? Losing weight would be easy for him - it's not like he's over muscled now anyway.

Why don't lots of people do it? Because its hard and not everyone can do it without losing what made them good in the first place.

Why doesn't cancellara or Martin do it? Both got far bigger engines than Sagan?

Pointless comparing Martin to Sagan - two completely different types of rider. Martin totally focuses on one specific discipline and weight loss would probably put him at a disadvantage for his speciality, whereas Segan is more an all rounder as you well know. Also Wiggins shed a st load of weight last year and his time trialling actually improved and we're led to believe so did his numbers. So it's possible to lose muscle mass and still keep the engine.

Not sure about red hot favourite. Look at the classics. He was flying, and got out manoeuvred in all of them. I would think he'd be in the final selection at the Worlds but I'd be surprised if he manages to pull it off. Give him a few years though and he'll have a tremendous palmares I would imagine.

He did show a bit of naivety at the tour of flanders? But he is still young and I wouldn't expect him to make that mistake again.

I wouldn't bet against him achieving anything he fancied turning his hand to. He looks a better bet for a gc then froome or wiggins looked at that age.

I would like to see him win a few classics and concentrate on the green jersey for a couple of years then move on to gc in his mid to late twenties
