Puncture on the inside of the tube- pinch?

Just replaced my punctured tube which was holed on the inside, i.e. the spoke side.

There are no sharp edges or protruding spokes on the wheel and nothing in the tyre.

I think the flat happened after hitting a pothole and the tyre went down straight away.

Was this a pinch puncture do you think?

Sounds like a pinch. Check your pressures more often / try running higher pressure.

I'd look 1st to your rim tape too. Even if it looks/feels fine, I'd replace it anyway to be on the safe side. Also make sure you don't have a loose spoke.

If it's a pinch, I'd expect the hole to be a small nick out to one side of the tube (i.e. near the edge of the rim). Normally it's a 'snakebite' - 2 holes one on each side.

If it's the rim tape, usually a central, larger hole - sitting in the rim bed. I went through a phase of this with some HED wheels before I realised the rim tape was too narrow to fill the bed - while it 'covered' the holes there wasn't much sideways overlap, and under duress it would blow out into the spoke hole.
