That was hard work! Taking the bike off the rack I noticed a small slit in the tyre so had to fit a boot to it. Cracking on at a good pace and overtake 3 mtb'ers on a decent only to snake bite. All 3 passed us as we fixed the flat. Next flat came followoing a what seemed to be a novice on an mtb she bumbled over some rock, psfft! Next bloody flat. Evertyone we passed now passed us again. Job done out of the tracks and out on to a road....BANG! Scared the s
t out of both of us 3rd puncture for me, looks like I slit the tyre on the last flat. Boot and tube fitted off we went.
Some cracking routes and some decent views across to Didcot power station. 4k's from the end and my mate gets a flat, looked like a thorn. Fixed it and it was flat within second. Dopey bugger fixed the tube the night before but didn't check the tube, it had 2 holes lol.
Arriving at the finish ours were the only cars left in the carpark. 6hr54mins for 100km. My first big ride in 2 years so I was happy with that.

Good effort, the Mendips Sportive was completely uneventful by comaprison! rode up a hill, went down the other side, repeat, ride around a flat bit then go over another big hill!... cracking route, well worth doing next year
Hehehe, there was a follow on road sportive today and there are some big hills near Checkendon, probably garuntee a streatly hill ascent. BerksJack said:

Thanks, I'll have a look at those. Wouldn't mind trying something a little less punishing before the year is out.
