First mtb crash that could have been serious. On a narrow trail over dovestones resovoir tonight I "cocked up" and when bouncing down a very steep bank, thank god I landed in bushes and there where no rocks as I fell about 8 feet onto my thigh and apparently my wrist because that hurts too now. Could have been worse, think I need some knee pads.

Hi nick, sorry to hear about the fall. I ride around there regulary, where abouts was it? Hard to describe I know, my thinking is maybe the top car park, riding down towards the rez?

No I'd ridden the trial from carrbrook, it was around where the stream feeds resovoir. Pretty rocky path with a drop of the side, quite high up and narrow.

RICE - rest, ice, compress, elevate.

If it still hurts in the morning get checked out by a doc. smile

Agree with that! I've had a couple of crashes over the years, but this (crash on Saturday morning) is the first time I've actually taken the advice seriously - not least because my wonderful boss told me off every time I suggested I was going to do anything other than stay on the sofa with my knee up biggrin - and I'm amazed at how much faster my recovery is going as a result!

Hope you're feeling better in the morning. smile

Not sure if this is still an active thread but thought I would add my 2p, had my first bad crash last year (November) and broke my arm and ruptured ligaments in my elbow, and I was glad I was wearing knee pads at the time as they probably saved my knees from feeling more than sore.
Best thing I have done since then is get back on the bike and have a crash since, makes you remember that not all crashes end so badly !
