I'm (still) after a bike, but have been paid this month, so can now go out and grab something up to around £1k.

I find myself on tredz.co.uk and paulscycles.co.uk

Other than these two, who seem quite reasonable....is there anywhere better anyone can suggest I look please?

Oh - and is anyone selling a 'childs' road bike?

Suitable for an 8/9 year old?

Keep looking at Ribble, but I have no idea what i'm building.

I know 105 is good, but when it comes to wheels etc, i'm a bit lost.

I always seem to head straight for Wiggle. Its always been good service and the prices are good and there is plenty to pick from.

My kids have worked out that there is always a bag of Haribo in the Wiggle boxes so get pestered for that as soon as they arrive.

I go wherever its cheapest for what I want, there are actually not that many bad online stores I don't think, never had an issue with any of the ones I've used.

What's your budget?

PlanetX are also a good place for £1k+ road bikes.

All variable but Wiggle is great if things go wrong.

Just had a bad experience with Pedalon so they're out for me.

Highonbikes (mostly EBay) are great.

Merlin is good but like CRC, a lot of there stuff is pulled off new bikes; my RS SIDs from CRC had an already cut steerer for example and a non branded box. A bit sneaky IMO as they claim big savings off RRP yet don't sell proper retail products,

Evans isn't bad and Tredz is good too.

Best value bikes are at On One. Got some good deals on. But ignore their delivery times

If you buy a bike from Wiggle you'll become a platinum member and get a minimum of 12% off everything.

Wiggle - good range, good prices
Ribble - good offers (Veloflex tyres for £27.50? Yes please!)

I have mostly used Planet-X and Wiggle recently also a US site called Velo Vault for a set of wheels, even with shipping way cheaper.

Canyon Roadlite 6 is really calling me at the moment...

That, the Ribble (but I'm having difficulty speccing) and the Planet X

If you join British Cycling you'll get at least 12% off the bike, too wink

Wiggle and Evans are my first port of call: given that most posts about customer service tend to be complaints, I feel obliged to point out I was able to obtain a pain-free refund from Evans for a tyre that was well over a year old after it developed a fault (in fairness, it had been in a cool dark place for that year, not on a bike, and the fault was unambiguously one of manufacture. Still)
