Rad am Ring - anybody going?

Have been talked into joining a relay for this years Rad am Ring (http://www.radamring.de/en/). Sounds like fun & a different approach to getting to know that course.

Anybody else going?

Anybody been in the past? Hints on how to get through the night?

I will be there with the Northloop crew. Second year for me. Absolutely loved it last year. I'm in Spain at the minute but happy to help out a bit more when I'm back in a couple of weeks. The main thing is to eat well after every stint and grab sleep as often as you can. Take a compact with a granny gear on the rear cassette if you can (I will be using an 11-28 and feel no shame in saying so).

On a compact you'll be ok with a 25, you just might curse it a bit on the climb up to home acht in the middle of the night :-)

The combination of flats, descents and climbs means you don't need any particularly specialist gear, just a bike that's reasonably light and a decent all rounder. The surface is beautifully smooth, so you can run skinny tyres and high pressures if you want. Unless it rains, in which case I suspect the surface will be a greasy nightmare.

I hope you fared well and made it safely through the night?

I managed three laps (one dry, one wet, one dark) before we called it quits in light of the approaching thunderstorm. Magic moments on the track, but also some scary ones running into a wall of fog in the middle of the night...

I heard some of the campers lost tents and gear to the - hope you're not affected?
