Looking to pick up either the Garmin 800 or 810 today, but looking online (Evans) there seems to be a wide variety of packs available at varying prices that don't seem to make a lot of sense to me. Is the only difference the map packs they come with?

For example, the 810 has the 'Ultimate Performance' the 'Road Performance' the 'Performance' and the 'Trail' ranging from £387 - £515. If it's just the maps, are there certain maps that are superior over others?

Also, is it worth saving a few quid and going for the 800? If its the case of £50 then I would probably go for the newer one, but it seems like the 800 can be had for around £300 so a pretty big saving.

The different packages also come with different accessories I believe.

I bought an 800 with the expensive OS maps. As I stay on road, I have installed the free OpenStreetmaps and find them clearer. I have the cadence sensor and HRM and can't imagine buying without. This was before the 810 was announced and I haven't really looked at that.

Yeah, don't get suckered into paying for maps. Use OSM / openfietsmap.
