I haven't had a bike for 30 years, now I think it's time to get one. Mainly for exercise and for (maybe) a trip to work and back (6 miles each way).

I'm going to be on road just about all the time. Not looking for anything flash. I'm 6' 2" and about 16 stone if it makes a difference.

Looking to spend a couple of hundred.

Any ideas please?

Well, the last time I rode a bike I was C. 16 years old, and that bike was bought for me by my parents (it had dropped handle bars is all I can remember biggrin )

Spell "noob" with two "o"s because otherwise the sentence reads all wrong?

Take a look at hotukdeals, couple on there at the moment. Triban3 if you can find in stock anywhere. I have one and very happy with it.

Welcome to cycling. Sky have a lot to answer for, you should be prepared to suffer endlessly, but it's quite fun. 6 miles is barely enough to get warmed up so you might even end up cycling to work and back more than once.

I accept Paypal donations.

Oh, you mean you're trying to buy a decent bike for £200? Forget it. Seriously. Go on Ebay, set price to £150-250, look at the dross you see. A Carrera TDF is about the only worthwhile bike, and they're still crap. Try and find something with a carbon fork... or some sort of hybrid.
