Algarve Cycling?

I'm toying with the idea of taking my road bike out to Portugal for a couple of weeks - we're staying in Vilamoura. I know its ridiculously hot out there at the moment, but a few morning rides might make a nice change from sitting by the pool.

Does anyone have any info on roads/routes? Strava has a fair few segments that I can probably link but it would be nice to know where to go and where to avoid!

I did a week's cycling just ever so slightly north of where you are, last September. Was very nice and some good routes, and a big climb up the Foia (think that's how it's spelt).
