Fork seals - how much residue is too much?

I received my new bike today, I went for a Cannondale SL3 Hardtail in the end which I really like! The bike came in a box and required building up this afternoon. I built it up and went for a steady ride just to get used to everything. I only did about 8 miles and it was mainly road riding, but when I got back I noticed some residue on the forks. Nothing major but running my finger up them left a smear and a bit of oil on my finger.

Is this normal or should there be nothing at all? My apologies for the novice post but this is my first 'proper' mountain bike.

You might get a little bit to start with: IIRC there's an oil-soaked foam ring under the wiper seal (although I could well be wrong! Been a couple of years since I dropped the lowers on some RS forks), and some grease on the wiper seal itself.

Thanks mate, probably just panicking as it's all brand new! Will put some miles in and keep and eye on it
