Five-Ten Shoes

I'm after some new shoes for mainly trail centre riding with flat pedals. Just wondering if anyone rates Five-Ten shoes with their Stealth rubber?

Any better than £25 vans or similar?

Used the Impact 2s many moons ago. Meh. Grippy, but horrible lumpen things that take an ETERNITY to dry out (and weigh a tonne until they do) and rot out/fall apart.

I preferred the Shimano AM41s (now available in less horrid colours!), as they were infinitely better finished, still gave 99% the grip of the 5.10s, were lighter, more comfortable, offered more foot support and had better weather protection. And they were cheaper, IIRC.

I did try some five tens once, skate style shoes, but they felt a bit big and clumpy. I got a pair of vans rowley xlt off ebay for about £20 which i use for cycling. The waffle sole combined with my DMR V8's seems to offer plenty of grip.

I wear Vans Gravels which are their bike shoes and they are plenty grippy with Superstar Nanos. Nice and light but still tough.

The missus swears by her Teva Links as do a lot of other people. Think they may be my next pair

I ride with Five Ten Impact 2 Lo (I think). Look a bit special needs, weigh a ton, very clumpy, but have lasted 6 years to date and MUCH better grip both wet and dry than Vans etc IMO.
