Recommend me a good solicitor after being punted off

I would suggest getting in touch with British Cycling, they should be able to point you in the right direction;

Morning - I have used http://www.bikeline.co.uk/ before, they were very helpful and gave me good advice. They understood I wasn't a 'compo crazed sponger' and just wanted a replacement for my broken bike.
What I would say, and forgive if it seems mercenary, is try to get as much as you can.
I've been cycling through London traffic for about 14 years.
In that time, I've been knocked off, bumped into and shunted off the road probably about a dozen times and I can honestly say that only one of those was my fault.
None have been so serious that I've needed hospital treatment. At the time, at least.
However, about two years ago I got knocked off by someone going round Marble Arch roundabout. I had multiple bruises and a cut to my knee, but I got up and continued cycling (after the driver had just p*ssed off). Felt mostly OK at the time, but as a direct result of that I've now just had to have an operation on that knee as I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without wincing in pain.
The operation was only a partial success and I'm likely to have that pain for the rest of my life - indeed the physio said that the solution might be to try and 'avoid stairs'.
So, while I'm certainly not a money-grabbing eejit, I think you're entitled to compensation as you can't possibly predict the long-term damage.
Oh - and my bike needed £400 worth of repairs so I ended up scrapping it.

Another vote for Slater Gordon - they are the CTC legal partners. Like most solicitors (in my experience) they need an occasional wake-up call, but the big advantage is that they deal with many cycle-related claims so can advise you accordingly and can get medical expert witnesses on the case if necessary. You may be lucky with your local high street solicitor, but I feel confident with the team at Slater Gordon as my claim is beginning to reach a conclusion. The initial telephone interview inspired confidence - it was this that made me appoint them.
