Hollow pin chains. Worth it?

I have a 5 day trail tour in a few weeks and just getting some spares in. Are hollow pin chains worth the extra money? Is it possible to fix them out on the trail?
Would appreciate people's experience with them before I part with my cash!

I use hollow pin chains, fix them using the quick link connectors for the relevant speed. Touch wood, haven't needed to fix a chain on the trail/road in years.

I used one for a while when racing. Meant to be lighter but kept filling up with mud, crap etc. When cleaning the chain the ste was so hard in the pins it wouldnt
brush out. When it wore out I saved some pennies and bought solid pins.
