Just a reminder that there's a cycling thing on at Aldi today. I've just picked up a cheapy pair of summer gloves & a computer. Plenty more stuff there.

Just been to the Blackwater store...

...it would appear that either Aldi got their stock ratio of sizes wrong (again?), or the 'Reavers' have been in already and stripped the place bare of anything with a 'Medium' size tag on it.

This was @ 1100hrs - they'd only been open 3 hours, FFS. Whilst I was there, the usual crowd of oldies was in, elbowing their way to the stock, sifting through and bagging what I would call 'popular sizes'. I only went in for the Softshell jacket with detachable sleeves, but the last 'small' was too small - very tight across the chest, and everything else left was 'L' or 'XL', and way too baggy to be useful when riding.

I ended up buying some gloves, arm warmers, knee warmers, and a white 'ultra-light' jacket to replace a yellow one I've had several years of useful service out of. I also took a saddle bag/toolkit to the checkout, but changed my mind last minute and left it with the cashier. With a bit of luck, there'll still be some left in a couple of weeks (loads in the shop) and they'll get marked down further still

As an aside, as I returned to my car I saw a Chevrolet Avalanche leaving the car park. Not the ugliest 'SUV' ever, but why? In Surrey? Just WHY? It's just so unfeasibly mahoosive. Lovely noise though, from the big V8.

Went to the Swindon Store (there are 3 here!!) by the magic roundabou @ 09:15 today as I had to got to the bike shop nearby

Rain jacket looked ok, but not breathable, so I dont want to think how bad the sweat gets! For a tenner cant complain, not for me though
Loads of glasses, with several shade levels
Loads of gloves
Some shorts
ALl base layers gone, apart from pink
Loads of chain cleaning kits

TBH it all looked OK, I buy bits for computing as it doesn't matter if it gets wrecked or I lose it

I got and used on the commute this morning:

Cheapo cycle shorts for £7
Wear em under baggies so not worried about looks
Appeared to break a bit when I pulled them up
Were comfy on the 10 miles in, cant complain for price, the pad seemed decent, stitching round top notso.

Gloves for £3
Very "grippy" on handlbars
Seemed good, rough round edges, but overall seem fine for coumuteing and at £3 a pair I can get several and not worry about loseing them

Glasses for £3
These seem really good for price
Perfect for the bright sun again
Thought I would take a punt for £3, wish I bought loads of them now as I can't find any fault with them at all

The sizeing is quite generous on clothes, if you are in between sizes

For decent priced kit I am impressed with http://www.cycle-clothing.co.uk/ someone else on here recommended them and the jerseys are top notch

Replaced my old aldi gloves with new aldi gloves - just because the new ones match the bike.

Taken a punt on the 'casual' cycling shorts. We shall see

I was in there at 10am and it was no different,I was looking for a sleeveless jacket too, but ended up with two pairs of socks and a 15 minute queue to pay

Were these Rapha pink, by any chance....Trying to find that colour to go under my (Rapha) gillet. Would I come out a rash wearing an Aldi one though???? Need to economise a bit, got a stone chip in the Vapor coat on my Madone last night, right on the frikkin top tube grrrrrrrrrr.

That might have been me, I've got a couple of their jerseys and can't fault them.

Local Aldi is the opposite side of town for me, so by the time I'm over that way I would think anything of the right size for me will be long gone.

Was surprisingly quiet when I went in the Fareham store with most of the goods still there, picked myself up a cheap jersey, didn't like the "premium" one, a softshell, which looks an absolute bargain at £16, some gloves, socks and leg warmers.

Called in at the new Ely store on my commute home, seems to be the opposite problem to yellowjack - loads of small and medium, but not many large, and no XL. I bought the softshell (in black, which isn't ideal), a "premium" jersey, the casual shorts (not sure if I'll use them), the ultra lightweight boil-in-the-bag raincoat, and 2 pairs of socks. All the black and red socks were the smaller size, so had to go for white.

I decided against the gloves, as I bought a pair of lidl ones the other week and they gave me pins and needles after 5-6 miles. The glasses looked ok for the money, but due to wearing prescription glasses and not wearing contacts, they'd be no use to me!

well the Wallisdown store in Bmth has been cleared out of more or less everything bar small or ladies. Plenty of gloves and glasses. oddly no warmers at all.
i got a lightweight jacket and some shorts which are probably too big but worth a go.

I have a few pairs of their winter trousers which, at a tenner a pair, are spot on.

They have some cheapo overshoes coming too, so I'll try a set for something around 6 quid a pair.

im looking to pick up a jacket and bib tights. looks like all of this stuff is new, but anyone got any idea on sizes? i can try on jackets in the shop, but the tights.....
