It looks like I'm going to be without my bike for a week or two but fear not for I have access to a Wattbike for the duration.

What sort of training should I use to make maximum use from it?

I've had a good winter base so the legs are feeling good, I need to work on ability to 'smash it for 5 mins', is it as simple as 5 mins hard, 5 mins easy?

It's just a stationary bike that records a lot of info. Do you currently train with Power? If not the watt bike will be like riding a normal stationary bike. You can use it to inprove your pedaling efficiency, and your left leg right leg balance, but I don't think it'll have much effect on you in aweek.
If you do train with power, then you can use your power zones to do some workouts.

What he said.

For a week perhaps one thing you could do is go as hard as you can for 8 mins, see what figure you average on the wattbike (in watts) then do intervals at that level for 5 mins with a rest period of 3-5 mins. Repeat 4 times smile
