Repairing a 105 shifter

Had a crash 3 weeks back, and whilst cleaning the bike last week a tiny bit of plastic fell from the RH shifter.

Can this sort of thing be repaired, or shall I use it as an excuse to get some Ultegra shifters?

I may have solved my issue, looks like the part just pushes in and is held by magic

Replacement bit of plastic is cheap enough, though!

STOP MAN!! Are you insane?

This is a dangerous repair. If I was your wife I simply would not allow you to take to the road with this sort of bodge job.

You need to replace the lever without delay. I would suggest Ultegra to avoid such future failures. The old lever can, of course, be used safely on a winter bike.

This is true. I've also pointed out that the Ultegra lever colour is a much closer match to the top tube colour.
