For the first time, I did a 50mile ride. It took 2h50mins and included climbing the Wizard hill in Alderley Edge. I regularly do 30+miles but I had the morning to ride today so decided to break my record.

My legs felt a little stiff afterwards but are fine now.

I know that most of the other powerfully built directors on here do 50miles as their daily commute - each way - but for me it was a big milestone and I was itching to tell someone. My wife is sick of listening to me biggrin

I'm taking the bike (and the family) to my parents in Cumbria on Sunday so will be doing a couple of slightly shorter but much hillier rides! The century by the end of summer.

You too eh?

Good stuff, did 45 on my 45th on Saturday, 600m climbing. A nice morning out for me is a few less miles and a bit more climbing, 30 miles and 1000m felt like more of an achievement the week before, beaten today with 40 miles and 900m.

Must try for a 50/1000 this weekend smile

Well done! I've done my first 50 today, well, 50.2 according to the course I uploaded into my Edge 500 and the results into Strava, but only 36 according to the unit, it stop recording/reading right on the return leg. I know that ride was definitely further then 36! Hope I've not got a faulty unit.

You smashed my time though. Took me 3hr 37mins.

Did you maybe pause it during the ride and forget to un-pause it?

well done, ticking off milestones is hugely satisfying and will really help your fitness improve, just wait till the weather gets better and its 100kms next then!? wink

Good lad! Well done - its a decent milestone.

Ive been riding a couple months now and seeing your thread yesterday spurred me to do the same today. I did a hard 30miles on friday and felt pretty bad this morning, however the sun jeered me on and out I went.

Did 51.6miles in 3hrs 9min with 1400ft elevation. Felt absolutely great all the way through but the last 6/7miles was a windy struggle!!

Like yourself I hope to double it by the end of the summer!

Off to eat an easter egg!!
