I live opposite Regents Park and if you get up early you have the outer circle to yourself with no cars. I usually run round it bit seeing the amount of cycling that goes on I wouldn't mind getting back into bike riding.
What would be the best type of bike for doing it at with a budget of around £1200, any suggestions welcome

Nice place to be (assuming you're not in Summers Town of course :P ) - any sort of road bike would be best for that. You could get away with spending not a lot on a Allez from Specialized at around £600. If you want something a little more bespoke and less mainstream, then have a walk down to Condor Cycles on Grays Inn Rd, they make some lovely bikes that not very person has. May cost a bit more but as with most things something a little less off the peg always will. Still get something pretty close to your budget in sure.

Agreed: or Mosquito in Islington, or a few others...Pearson? Condor? for £1200?.... really?...
Find your local Cannondale dealer, find a 105 spec'd CAAD10 which fits and do a deal, rrp is £1400 but you can probably get something thrown in for free to justify the slight increase in budget.... I was having a look at one on saturday as a potential unnecessary purchase and was quite impressed. Alternatively, have a look at the Genesis Volant, there are a few in the range and again are really well spec'd bikes for the money.

The Accacio looks quite nice but £750 for a frameset is on the pricey side, Condor have a habit of charging rrp for finishing kit though which I really have issues with. It doesnt leave much to play with in terms of getting the rest of the bike built for £1200 though.
Fair point about the CAAD being a bit racey, its a lot of bike for the money though (even if it is £200 over budget
). The Genesis seems ideal but clearly doesnt have the right name on the side and it appears cake stop kudos trumps value for money in Regents Park!....
