Looking at getting into mountain biking + commuting,

Hi, im pretty certain im going to be buying a mountain bike soon, to be used for a bit of fun at the weekends through the new forest etc, old mans just bought a bike, so planning on going for days out with him, and also will be eventually used to commute, as i only live 2 miles from work, it makes much more sence than driving.

I have no idea what to look for, will be the first bike ive owned since being a kid. Is this bike any good?

Will take a guess and say alot of the more hardcore bikers and not fans of halfords, but i just want something cheap and cheerfull, that will get me to work easy enough, and could potentually take a beating at the weekends through some downhill parts of woods.

Any other recomendations? Looking to spend no more than £300, even less would be a bonus, not too keen on spending this much, but knowing ill get the money back through petrol savings eventually makes it worthwhile using man maths.

I am 6ft2, so guess ill need a 20" frame, there is a cheaper carrera centos on halfords, looks less spec though, and is only 18"
