Car pulled out infront of me. Big crash.

Evening chaps,
Had a pretty naff experience this afternoon. Flying along in the sunshine with my brother, rolling 30+mph down a hill.
Watch a zafira pull up to a side junction and look up the road, looks down the hill and then just pulls out. Obviously couldn't see the white, yellow and green club kit!
My brother has to dart across the other side of the road to get round the front of the car, this s
ts her up so she stops completely blocking my lane.
I lock up and then plough into the side of the car at 20-25mph. Not nice. Managed to pull the back wheel round and hit the car nearly side on. Shoulder, knee and head took all the impact. Bounced off into a big mess on my back in the road.
Bit painful but managed to get up fine, think ill be pretty stiff in the morning, knee, shoulder and neck are pretty stiff. Bike is a 1month old Giant TCR SL, handle bars and shifters have had it, plus wheels bit buckled. Cycle computer lost as well.
Brothers coach was knocked off last week and has in arm in a sling. Another chap I know was knocked off and his new Raleigh avante was in bits! Be careful out there chaps.
So what should I do? I have the woman's details and need to get my gear fixed, her car also has a nice 2 ft square and about 3in deep dent in the door. Would you report to police or anything jut incase we have to go through her insurance etc.

she wasnt paying attention, your brother had to take avoiding action which caused her to stop blocking you and resulted in an accident. you are potentially worse off as a result due to damage to the bike never mind your ody which could require physiotherapy....... why wouldnt you report it?
Reported. Didnt really want to know, but it's done and there's a record incase she wants to play hard ball.
You are correct about the bike, first thing I did was pick it up and check the frame. Few scratches, but seems to look and ride ok. I'll get my LBS to look over everything properly tomorrow.
Really glad it was me who hit the car actually (I am a powerfully built company director type), I literally thudded into the car and the car and bounced off. My little brother (17) who races every weekend would have snapped in half as he's a wiggo build.
Let's hope I can get the bike fixed ASAP as I have only just started training last week as I was I'll throughout January.

I think they were out today - I nearly had a couple of incidents myself despite a thousand lumens of China on the bars. A woman in a black X5 got a piece of my mind at the next set of lights after looking straight at me and then pulling out, I was only doing about 10mph at the time though so could avoid.
Glad to hear you're (largely) OK but once you've had the bike checked over make sure you contact the insurer to cover your damages. That's what (their) insurance is for...

On the same subject, I had a driver on his phone, swerving into a cycle lane which I was in... As he drove away I sprinted to keep up with him, followed right behind him doing a 'mobile phone to the ear' gesture whilst shouting bad things.
He soon put it down, I was tempted to follow him down his street. If I was a few feet further forward I would have been quite flat to the road I imagine. Sick of seeing them.
But, we don't pay 'road tax' or 'have insurance' so we shouldn't be on the road and are nothing more than an inconvinience.
I hope the Police react seriously to your incident, OP and that the bike frame proves to be Ok at the LBS.

It's that time of year! I was 'off-ed' in Windsor on Saturday evening, quite an innocuous incident but left me lying in the middle of the road with a bruised wrist, cut/swollen knee, bruised shoulder and stiff neck and back for a couple of days.
In hindsight it must have looked quite comical, I was sat at a set of lights behind a young-ish girl who had been displaying a complete lack of concentration all the way through Windsor. We stopped at a set of lights, I unclipped and stopped behind her - the lights changed, she pulled off - I clipped in and pushed off quite hard - her phone flashed on the dashboard - she slammed her brakes on to pick the phone up - emergency stop style! I jumped on the brakes but simply couldn't unclip in time and went over landing on my right knee first, then hand, then shoulder. She looked in her mirror, realised what she had done and took off like a scaled kitten! By the time I was up and off the road she was too far away to read the plate......cow!
On the other side of the coin I saw a total plonker on a bike almost become an organ donor this evening! 4 x set of lights in the middle of Twyford, middle of rush hour so very busy, quite narrow roads, quite a few pedestrians about - in other words quite a hazardous place! On the way into the middle of Twyford I overtook a chap on a decent bike, expensive lights, decent clothing - 'looked' like an experienced rider - couple of miles down the road he caught up with me at the set of lights which were on red - then shot through at speed just in time to meet the traffic coming from the right hand set of lights, clipping the front of a car then screaming obscenities at the driver!

Police didn't want anything to do with it. Police said it was a matter of sorting the damages out with insurances and that was it.

I think thats pretty poor show to be honest, you could have been seriously hurt, you or your brother or both. Driving without due care and attention at least surely and she should cough for the damage, out of guilt if nothing else.I might pop into my local station tomorrow and talk face to face, not very happy with that. Needless to say I am pretty stiff this morning, Feels like I have cycled 1000miles over night. Knee and the top of my right leg is pretty sore, got bit of a limp on.
Copping off work a little early today to get the bike down my LBS.
Whats the crack with damage and carbon frames. In my mind im under the impression that such an impact could potentially split or crack the frame which may not be visible.
Ultimately if there is any damage to the frame which compromises its performance now or in the future I want it replaced, I didnt spend £1200+ on it for it be launched at a Zafira at 25mph.
Copping off work a little early today to get the bike down my LBS.

Sorry to hear. First thing to do is make sure you're okay, bike next. Get it down to your LBS for an assessment and obtain a quote to repair back to new. Cracked carbon frames can be repaired I've heard; but frankly I think I'd want a new frame if there is any damage to it. Everything else is replaceable.
Get the quote and show it to the driver - she may want to put it through her insurance if it's substantial, but if it's just a few hundred quid she may just give you cash.
But you know what, don't be too hard on the driver - she's clearly made an error of judgement, maybe kids screaming in the back of the car / sunlight in her eyes / whatever, and didn't intend to hurt anyone, and I'm sure she feels pretty bad about it. Being civil in these matters is likely to bring a much more satisfactory result.

They started with their excuses yesterday (as one of her friends happened to be a couple cars behind me and stopped to see whats going on). They soon started with:
- You go so fast on these road bikes, my response was "Slower than a motorbike would have been going, and I was well within the speed limit if that applies to me".
- You dont stand out as your bike is black. Fair one, my bike is black and I was wearing dark clothes yesterday BUT it was light at 4pm and my brother leading the way was in white, yellow and green with his lights on!!
- The sun was in my eyes. Yes the sun was in your eyes but the sun was to your left (down the hill) and I came from your right. Plus if your are admitting you couldnt see why did you risk pulling out at all?
- You were quite close to the edge of the road so I couldnt see you very well. Erm, I was about 3 feet from the curb, where else am I supposed to ride?
I finished with, ultimately you just need to look harder.
As for CTC, dont go there. I have owned a road bike for 5 weeks and have cycled on the road properly for 1.5weeks (been ill throughout jan), at the weekend I seen something about CTC. Before signing up I was going to talk to my friend this coming weekend, typical.
So basically she has admitted pulling out of a junction without being able to see it is clear.
If your bike is written off, I would be writing to her today asking her to replace it like-for-like and give her a deadline to pay up, say 14 days.
You have a witness and you should be prepared to take her to court.
I assume she has insurance..

Also gives you a handy ID card to carry so if the worst happens they know where to send the bits
