Off to Halfords to buy a Dogma

If you're going to drop a couple of grand on a bike, then chances are you wouldn't be massively comfortable doing so at "selected" Halfords!

I don't see how buying a Pinarello from Halfords is any worse than buying it from Wiggle.

In the same way that my Pinarello won't be going to Wiggle for a service, you are not obliged to get the spanner-work done at Halfords.

Its just tarnished them for me, they're weird looking things anyway, but the fact they are now sold along side Apollo etc makes it even worse.

Great move for Halfords though. Lots more people will walk through the door and if they don't buy a £1500 pinerello they may walk out with a £700 Boardman or some new accessories or a new stereo and a chrome filler cap for their saxo.

So what difference does it make if you buy a bike on line from Halfords or the same model in a specialist shop?

Worth paying the extra for them to spend a couple of hours setting it upi?

but if its cheaper than anywhere else, you buy it boxed, take it home and build it yourself and never, ever take it back again.... you know its a high end product and their staff are, on the whole, useless..

Halfords won't be that much cheaper I doubt, if at all. Especially not than the web.

You don't think it's the retailer that sets the retail price do you?

Many are told if the manufacturers find out the bikes are being sold discounted they will no longer be supplied with shiney new bikes.

I've got a few mates in shops and they don't get too much to play with with brands like Pina/Colnago, but maybe the scale of Halfords will make it different.

I assume they have a cheaper range that aren't Dogmas.

Yes, they have the FP1 for about a grand and the FP2 for about £2k. They also have a range of fixies and stuff I think that you never see in the UK.
