No specific details yet. I'll probably sell my 800 and get the new 510.

What's that website? Couldn't find any mention anywhere on Garmin.

That website is the company building the site for Garmin, someone found the 'beta' version before it's meant to go live. Good find!

The text hasn't even been written yet, some of it still says 'copy required'

SO much for the Garmin 900 that bikeradar reported recently.

I got a 800 for my birthday/xmas present and I certainly won't be selling my 800 to upgrade to the 810.

There will be some bargains out there for the 800.

Looks like a marginally better colour screen and bluetooth connectivity to smartphones. I'll stick with my 800 until something revolutionary appears in the spec list

I was just about to pull the trigger on a 500, so let's see where the price point of the new 510 comes. Normally I'm the unlucky chump who buys just before something gets an upgrade smile

The 510 doesnt add anything I need over my existing 500. I like to look at the data afterwards but am really only interested in three things when I am riding - Speed, HRM and cadence.

510 looks too big and I dont want a touch screen on a device like this as buttons are much easier to use on the go. And I definately dont need social network sharing during my ride!

In this case my wife is the unlucky chump as she bought it for me wink

I've all ready seen prices for the 800 falling. I've seen the Performance pack for £289 on the net!

I must be missing something here. I am not overly interested in either HRM or cadence so I use a Cateye for speed/distance and Galaxy II phone for Strava/Maps. So why would I have any interest in Garmin 2xx, 5xx or 8xx ? I can't see from the specs that 2xx or 5xx even gives you maps so what's the point?
I am not criticizing the products, just trying to understand why I would want to spend the money on them.

Cadence I find very helpful.

The 500 also allows you to upload a route and then provides a map (sort of) and turn by turn directions.

I suppose it depends at what level you cycle at and if you compete or race. If you enjoy your bike and use it for general exercise then you probably don't need cadence or HR, or a super light frame or deep rim wheels etc etc etc.

To me Cadence and HR are massively important for training and increasing my pace and efficiency. All you can really control is your effort (HR) cadence and gearing. Knowing what they are is essential to make improvements.

If i'm training or doing intervals on a turbo, I rely on HR and cadence, if i'm doing a long easy ride on my bike often I'm not that bothered. I might check the cadence now and then and look at the HR afterwards to see how I coped going up a hill but it's not so important.

You probably already know your ideal TT cadence and are good at maintaing it though.
