Disc Brakes issue - Outside in the cold... ?
Discussion
What brakes are they? Most are pretty easy:
1) Remove wheel
2) Push pistons back into caliper by sliding a thick screwdriver between the old pads (or using the end of a ring spanner once the pads are removed). I normally cycle the lever a little and repeat the pushing a few times so that the pistons are scraped clean by the seals.
3) Remove retaining pin on the pads and slide the old pads out (some are top, some are bottom).
4) Insert new pads with retaining pin.
5) Re-install front wheel and squeeze lever a few times to get the pads biting properly.
6) To ensure that the pads are hitting the disc square and evenly I normally use a fine screwdriver to push one pad or the other across the disc while gently pumping the lever to balance them out. If you want to move the bite across to the left hand pad, put the screwdriver behind the right hand piston, and vice versa.
