Mountain Bike advice

Afternoon all,

I've just been perusing the sale stock online and wanted your thoughts on this:

Is it good for the money? Are there any others at a similar price point worth looking at?

The on-one has better forks and wheels. Brakes are the same, but a larger disc on front of the inbred. Gears are probably similar - mostly x5 to deore on the GT. The GT does have an aluminium frame, whereas the inbred is steel so they may be similar weights overall but couldnt guarantee that - inbred may even be lighter.... I had a steel 456 summer season frame (slightly slacker inbred for longer travel forks) and loved it. Its only hanging up in the garage as I was bought a 456 carbon frame for my birthday! On-one have always been very helpful and I've had great service/delivery from them. I know others who have the same frame as the £599 bike and swear by them.

Overall I'd say the inbred is the better bike, but whether you can justify the extra is for you to decide.

I got a Trek 6700 hardtail 2nd hand on ebay for that price. Very well looked after 2010 bike, just been serviced (including forks) plenty of pad on the brakes for same price as those and it was £1100 new.

Worth keeping an eye on the bay, for the amount you want to pay there's some very good bikes on there and reasonable easy to spot the good ones.

ETA: I've used an Avalanche as a hire bike MTBing in Sierra Nevada and I was impressed with the ride, responsive but settled and not twitchy. I'd assume they've not changed much in the last couple of years.
