There's a lot of chatter about the value of aero on this, and other, cycling forums.

This is about the best article I have read on the subject and breaks down the savings to bike, position, helmet, and wheels. Interesting read.

Interesting how much difference the helmet makes on the Transition.

More than 10% saving in power required at 40km/h.

Also makes me really want a go on a proper TT bike and full kit and see how I'd perform.

Reality is that you can't just jump on a TT bike and ride an aggressive position without plenty of training to enable your body to work in that position.

This is so true. I have seen quite a few riders drop the front of their TT bikes and try to get 'flat' only to find that they limit their oxygen intake. As with everything you need a proper fitting and lots of time to get familiar with your kit. I found that the 10 mile setup I had initially proved to be a total nightmare over a 25 smile
