Road cycling jerseys - what do you wear?

Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a couple of cycling jerseys and am after some inspiration. There don't seem to be any Cube road jerseys for sale in any of the online shops and I don't really fancy wearing a Trek/Specialized team jersey as it won't match (sad I know!). Do you tend to wear team jerseys or do you stick to generic brands (I currently have an Endura one that is fantastic).

The foska jerseys seem a little bit too much - okay maybe the irn bru one I could get away with.

Any recommendations for something a bit out of the norm (i.e. not plain blue/black etc)?

I mostly wear this jersey I bought on a brewery tour on a stag weekend:



But have a for others I bought when Lidl/Aldi did a cycling gear sale last year and a Mavic jersey I bought a few years back.

Whatever I've collected over the years and is clean and to hand.

Early team GT race top from the bargain bin. Early ONCE yellow long sleeve team rep jersey from the 80s.

These days though I mostly buy Merino tops from ON-ONE / Planet X. There is no beating merino as a fabric for active sports IMO.

Have a look at torm.cc , simple & fairly classy designs not dissimilar to a certain other very expensive and simple & fairly classy manufacturer of bicycle clobber. They're well put together & made from sportswool which is a merino wool & polyester mix....

Decathalon ones do the job, they're between £10 - £20. Although, I really love Campagnolo Heritage range and have just bought a jacket from them. I also like the stuff from Prendas ciclismo, so will be putting some orders their way in the near future.

Prendas retro jerseys are good (and a classic Tour jersey gets you a *lot* of kudos in France!). Also a bit fan of Castelli stuff.
Else it's just club kit

Northwave for me, I go for eye-catching with the hope that car drivers etc notice the jersey and subsequently me!!

Although, (happily) I do not look like the bloke wearing it. Not a fan of matching my bike and Jersey, but as I'm riding a BMC the Suisse Federation Jersey was good enough comprimise.

Club kit usually. But I do own some old pro kit and some shutt stuff.

I made the mistake of buying a HTC kit when I first started, I wear it every now and again but its certainly not first choice. Just look like a bit of a helmet rolling round in it, but I don't care that much, but care enough not to buy anymore.

I am amazed at how many Sky team riders train in my area, and how many tour winners and stage winners choose the flat roads of the Thames Valley as their training route!!!

UNLESS YOU ARE PRO - never ever ever buy a yellow/polkadot/world-champs jersey!

Apart from that anything goes - personally I like Castelli & Assos generic designs - have tried Mavic but it fell apart once I had got it home and didnt fit properly - just MHO!
