Double on Winter Bike, Compact on Summer Bike. Problem?

My old and now Winter bike is a double and my much newer Summer/Race bike is a compact.
What, if any, are the negatives of this?

ETA. My weekly long rides are Centuries with a fair bit of climbing and the races are Ironmans.

Train as you want to race, non?
However, provided you play around with ratios, cassettes etc to get then as closely matched as possible, can't see it being a massive problem...

If you mainly train on the hack bike in order to do competition on the newer one, then its probably better to decide which gearing you prefer and then change the chainset (or chainrings if available) and cassette on the other bike.

Dunno, but if it is a problem, my winter bike has only a single chainring, my best bike has a compact, and my mountain bike has a triple!

So I will have big problems if it makes a major difference.
