Identify my Headset!
Discussion
Right guys, looks as though I could do with a little help...!
I need to replace my headset as its started to develop some play, but I'm a little confused as to what type I need to order!
Originally I ordered one of these - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod... as it looked to be good value and had decent reviews, but when it arrived it became obvious it is completely the wrong type!
At the moment I have one of these fitted -

Can anyone tell me what type of h/set this is without me stripping it down?
From looking at the FSA website, it looks as though it is an 'internal' or an 'integrated' type, but I would like to be sure before I order another wrong 'un!
Apologies for my level of ignorance, any help much appreciated!

I would imagine its a semi-integrated headset. see page 4 here

I used to have a GT bike with a semi-integrated headset.
You need a headset like this : http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod...
Or here's a hope one if you're a hope fanboy http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod...

Or if you fancy a bit of bling instead of boring old black: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cP...
Will have a go at giving it a clean and re-grease when I strip it check out what bits I (might) need.
I take it I 'adjust' a headset by tightening the bolt in the top of the stem with the bolts on the side loose...?
Am I ok going as far as I can before the bars begin to give some resistance when turning them?

Yes. To pre-load the headset you tighten the stack until there is no play when you rock the bike backwards and forwards on the brakes. Then nip up the stem bolts. Be careful not to overtighten. The way to tell is the steering feels graunchy and or tight.I take it I 'adjust' a headset by tightening the bolt in the top of the stem with the bolts on the side loose...?

If it's fitted with cartridge bearings just order some new bearings if they're shot. Much cheaper than buying a complete new headset.
