It was the cable run that I thought wasn't too clever, I'd missed the adjuster - unless it's done that way, since stretch and pad wear will only make you want to adjust out not in.
Yes, Ross; that's dead neat. I bought a Honda mower recently - I re-ran the cables on that, as they were set up for rapid wear.

That depends how you want the brakes to feel and where you want the bite point. Some people like a long throw of the lever some prefer minimal.Another advantage would be, for rim brake users, to wind the brake out if the wheel got buckled so you could get home without a rubbing brake.

Guess that depends on the frame and where the cable stops are mounted. If I did that on mine the wires would be dragging on the frame which is neither great for shifting or the paintnoobs
