Wheels / Spokes and Stuff
Discussion
If it is a standard round spoke (not bladed) then they are just full of s
t about not being able to get one.
Just keep up the pressure and make sure they true the wheel properly when they give it back to you.
Wheels are usually the first weight upgrade to any off the shelf bike but they are expensive!
The hassle with a £2 item such as a spoke really wouldn't push me into spending hundreds...

A harsh as it may sound, you're running not-very-good wheels, with a not-very-good parts supply, being "repaired" by a not-very-good bike shop (by the sounds of it).
Cut your losses. Get them fixed elsewhere by somewhere that knows what they're doing, then either eBay them or sling them in the garage as spares/winter wheels/turbo trainer wheel(s).
In the mean time, approach a good shop (or Wheelsmith, Paul Hewitt or Harry Rowland) and get a quote for a sensible set of wheels. As an example, Wheelsmith quote £338 for Shimano 105 hubs + Ambrosio Excellight rims put together by someone who knows what they're doing. They'll last you a lifetime, and should they break, the off-the-shelf components can be sourced anywhere.
OR
Merlin Cycles for a set of Shimano R501 wheels. £70-80 IIRC. I run the R500s on my CAAD9, have utterly abused them...and nothing. No wobbles, no broken spokes etc despite all manner of potholes, kerbs etc, etc.

Ime one snapped spoke shouldn't make the bike unridable. I'd do as has been suggested - have the wheels rebuilt by someone reputable, and hopefully it'll see you right for 1000's of miles!
Depends on the build: pop a spoke on a 20-spoke wheel and you'll have a near-instant Pringle!Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
