Road bike or triathlon bike, c 1000 quid

I'll try again for some advice on c 1k road bikes last thread deleted as someone posted an ad on it!
Anyway, I am after a road bike of up to a grand, I am 6ft 1 and 110kg so a big chap! What is the deal with triathlon bikes? They obviously look a bit different but can one use a tri bike as a road bike?
Recommendations appreciated, no ads though, please.

most road bikes are suitable for triathlons but if you are referring to tri-specific bikes with bullhorn bars and arm extensions, they are fine until you hit a hill or traffic... the tri-specific bikes are largely time trial bikes with mildly altered geometry to support your legs as a triathlete has a run to compete after the bike leg. personally, unless you are competing in triathlons or time trials they are not worth considering....
