Just a quick what bike with some specifics

Afternoon all,

I have a very quick what bike for you, I have been signed up to the cycle to work scheme that Cycle Surgery run.

I have narrowed my choice down to three bikes.

As far as I can tell they are all fairly similar bikes except for the trek being slightly better spec'd with hydraulics. I'm not a heavy rider but do enjoy the trails so figure any of these would be strong enough.

Which one would you pick and why?

The geometry of the Whyte doesn't look right to (for) me, and I don't like bent down tubes.
The Orange has the same size discs front and rear. Why? Puts me off the rest of the bike.
So I'd go for the Trek, despite never being a fan of the brand. It looks right and I can't see anything wrong with it.

Of course I do, but other purchases are denying me the ability to do this at the moment.

See above, hence the purchase through C2W... I have already received my voucher, so it has to be one of these three...
I think the trek is winning based on equipement, it's a pity there aren't more reviews around!

in a nut shell, they are all very similar as you can tell from the spec.

the trek does look a bit more "race-y" comapred to the whyte, i think as the whyte is designed in the UK, they use slightly slacker angles as thats what we seem to prefer over here comapred to the continent.

same size discs front and rear wouldnt be an issue, normally the front is slightly larger on account of weight transfer and its the one you use more often but its not a deal breaker, certainly not for an xc bias hardtail. the shaped down tube isnt an issue either, its hydro formed alu, its pretty much bombproof... for some reason Orange hardtails just leave me cold, not sure why but like alu Konas i just never found one that rode well.

for me it would be Whyte, Trek, Orange

Just so you know, all 3 bikes have hydraulic brakes (Avid Elixir 1).

Personally I see nothing wrong with the geometry on any of them, but as said above the head angle on the Trek is a bit "racier". I'd go with the Whyte.

That's pretty much the way I am leaning, all the reviews on Whyte products are pretty positive!

I just can't help but think that the Trek will be better all round.
