2nd Hand Road Bike £500?

I'm thinking about getting a road bike but don't want to spend a fortune in case I don't get into it (just mountain biking up til now) - probably looking at a 60cm frame (I'm 6"3) and probably something fairly sturdy as I'm not exactly 'lightweight'.
1) Any bikes you'd recommend?
2) Any good second hand sites to check out? (I'm in Surrey)

Boardman Team, Specialised Allez or Giant Defy. there will be hundreds around and they are all good reliable bikes that ride well. you should easily find one within the budget.
Dont get hung up on groupset or shiny bits that you recognise, if its second hand, you may well be replacing bits soon so whether it has 105, Sora or Tiagra groupset makes no difference if it needs replacing!
each bike for sale secondhand is different, if you dont know what to look for, take someone who does.... as a general rule, drivetrain should be clean, as should braking surfaces on the rims, hold the pedals in each hand and check for play around the bottom bracket area, check the area around the stem which should move freely.
