Lightweight 26' non-disc wheels

Are these basically no longer available, what with rim brakes only really being on low-spec mountain bikes these days?

I use an old Cannondale Bad Boy for commuting and new wheels will soon be necessary (the brake pads have just about worn the rims through). I am happy to sacrifice some durability for less weight since the bike spends it life accelerating away from traffic lights rather than going off road, but it seems that the choice of wheel is quite limited and comparable wheels to my current ones are noticeably heavier (but better quality and no doubt more durable if going on trails).

Does anyone have recommendations for lightweight 26' wheels for use with V-brakes?

have a look at the wheel builder on merlin cycles web site or give them a call. there are loads of canti/v rims around, you should get something very nice built up for around £50 with a mavic rim, shimano hub and dt spokes.
