1st August Olympic time trial event

Hey guys, I'm skiving off on the 1st to watch the time trials, but would be interested in knowing the start order for the riders. Does anyone know how this is decided or where it's published?

Thanks in advance for any good suggestions.

All I know is it's 40 riders with 90 second intervals. Means they will all leave within an hour of each other. Course should last just under an hour as well so quite a short session

Best riders will go last I would imagine. Minimizes the catches.

Well yes I suppose it would make sense if they went first, but that is never the way it happens for some reason.

Anyway by the time the last guys go off the first are finishing so really unless someone is very quick, catches don't happen too much.

If you order the riders in expected finishing time, then the riders setting off near each other should all produce similar times so few catches. A catch would only occur when someone performs outside expectation (which will happen as the predictions aren't guarantees).

Unless the riders have some sort of seeding or qualifying, I don't know how they'd do it.

Presumably the reason for the fastest going last is that if they went first and posted the winning time, the rest of the event would be dull for spectators and demoralising for riders.

its the starting order albeit in reverse,

the Moroccan is first up and last to go is that Cancellara chap .... first off at 1415 and each rider at a 90 second interval with Cancellera off at 1509. If having Saprtacus up your hoof isnt motivation enough for Wiggo nothing is!!!

Full coverage on BBC Olympics 3 (Channel 552 (HD) or 576 (SD) on Virgin).
Probably on BBC1 too but might be interrupted by updates about other sports or just be the "feature" riders.

I was planning on heading over to Sigma to watch tomorrow but as I'm working tonight and am already pretty tired I think the chances of me making it til gone 1500 are pretty slim!
