Cheers for the info, this was my concern, I've just got the tyres the bike come with I'm not buying any specially for the day. Hopefully it'll dry up.

Generally Porridgepot drains well and although there may be the odd muddy spot, they will route the course such that you should be fine on normal tyres.

996SPS, I'll see you there - I'm on an On One 29er (orange frame, rigid singlespeed).

SDW is a real horror story when it's wet/muddy. The Winchester end in particular becomes a slog and it's easy to lose a lot of time getting nowhere fast. After Cocking it generally improves, but be cautious of any green patches on the chalk.

Cheers mate, glad to read it drains well, I completed a race at Cannock in April and I have never fallen off so much - It was thick mud and although I completed it I didn't enjoy it, not due to rain or cold purely the route.

Yep, does drain well. Very rarely is anything unrideable. Just a few muddy puddles here and there. Usually by the ranges fenceline and in the 'valleys' between the clearing and the athletics ground.

Well that was a little tougher than expected - the early gloop made the first few laps quite tiring, although by the time the 2hr riders went round there was a drier and faster line in place.

Great race though.

Was over at Tunnel Hill on Sunday morning with some of the 'Trolls' (they had a sponsored tent by the start/finish) and we popped over at the end of our ride. Was the usual mix of dry singletrack with some muddle puddles/corners so a bit better than I expected.

Some of the short sharp climbs at Porridgepot can be a bugger in those conditions though. Difficult to get traction.

I'm really glad you've said it was a difficultish route, i struggle with the off camber tree roots, really wet and greasy and thick mud, the first lap I creamed in countless times but by my 3rd lap it had dried up and didn't fall off as much, really enjoyed it though I got to 5hours and 47minutes done 5 laps had chance to do 1 more but my son was poorly and my GF had to take him to drop in centre, it was a 2 hour drive so dashed off, priority's and all that.

Really, really enjoyed it though.
