Rear Mech Compatibility

Hi all, I am currently building myself an MTB from scratch, based around a Carerra frame and Rockshox forks, with mainly Shimano Deore running gear.

I have got to a rolling chassis stage, but when I went to fit my Shimano Deore Shadow Long cage rear mech, the frame is obviously designed to take an SRAM unit.

do I just need to fit one of these hanger adaptors:

NothIng useful here, but your build looks good; I'm at about the same stage as you, building around a carrera frame with marzocchi forks... Just about to head into the black art of gear cabling!

I've mostly always been a Shimano lad, but I never knew that you needed adapters to change rear mech manufactures.

No. That part is designed for a bike that has no rear hanger "brazed" on. Rear mech hangers are standard for all mechs from all manufacturers.

This is what I thought. You're not missing the hanger from the frame are you? (most frames these days have replaceable mech hangers for those lovely days when you rip a mech off...)

ahh, could be, there is a cut-out in the frame where something should fit...maybe that's what is missing!

Was passing a Halfords earlier, so popped in and spoke to someone strangely competent and helpful! I showed him a pic of my bike and he sorted the correct hanger..and they are 20% off at the moment!
I will let you know how I get on..
