Why is my seat creaking?

Hi

I have a Specialized Henge seat and it's creaking! It's newish, only got it in March. I've noticed some movement between the plastic bit your arse goes on and the rails...is this normal? Can I do anything to rectify it or is it back to the LBS with it? I'm a tad unhappy given that it was the wrong side of fifty quid!

Tighten the seatpost bolts?

are you sure its the saddle and not the seat post in the frame? if its a carbon post in a carbon/alu frame, there might be a few creaks.

re the saddle, unclamp the saddle, put copper ease on the bolts and tighten them back up. should sort the problems

I had this 'creaking' noise on saddle once, I found that spraying some WD40 in the areas where the rails go into the plastic, front and rear, got rid of it for about 3 months, then repeat the dose ;-)

My fi'zi:k gobi "tailflex" does exactly this and drives me mad! (especially as it's on my FS so i have just got used to the lack of chain slapping noise ;-)

will try the wd40 trick asap

99.9% certain the seat itself is creaking, don't have any WD-40 so have tried some GT-85, mainly cos it smells nicer! Seems to have worked but will know for certain tomorrow when I go for a ride. Have also greased the post for good measure...just hope it's not my knees creaking!

No its not normal, take it back to the place you bought it from and get a replacement saddle.Specialized will honour the warranty for that
