£1000ish Hardtail-Specialized, Boardman or Cube?

My bikes were recently stolen..bad times. However, I will soon hopefully receive the insurance money..good times!..I have narrowed down my choice to the above brands. Just looking for opinions really. Looking around £800-£1200..

..My bike (that went walkabout from my shed) was a 2010 Specialized Rockhopper Expert which I liked very much. Looking at the current Rockhopper Expert the spec looks to have diminished along with the price (£800 from £950 I paid)?

I couldn't be more pleased with my Cube LTD Race. Fits nicely in your price bracket although I paid a lot less at Xmas for a 2011 model.

Great kit, looks good and a pleasure to ride - light and responsive. Budget a little more for pedals and some replacemnt tyres.

Also, have you considered a Canyon. Mail order so you can't try before you buy but they are good value at that price point

I got a Cube LTD Race well within that budget - it's great, much better than my mate's similarly priced Rockhopper.

I've just got a Cube Ltd Race too. Only been out once so far but love it. Great spec for the money.

I know Saracen are not as trendy as some, but the spec is beastly for the price - assuming the size is correct. If not you can pick it up for only a little more in different sizes.

Good spec for the price but a very different bike from the others. Guess it depends what the OP is going to ride
