If, like me, you have a Joplin seat post you might be wondering;
'If I service this at home, myself, what's the worst that can happen?'
I know I did! Turns out it's 'fire oil at 70 PSI into your face!'. Luckily I avoided this and just gave my kitchen ceiling a liberal coating of oil...well at least it won't rust now!
My thoughts now? Don't buy a Joplin, spend a few more quid and get summat that will still work after getting wet. Home service is possible but just read the instructions very carefully and double deffo wear safety glasses.
And in case you were wondering, the initial fault was my post wouldn't fully extend, this progressed into, could be fully extended but when you sat on the saddle it would drop an inch. I've (unintentionally) drained and refilled the oil, re pressurised and all is now well.
